It's been a while but I'm back with another Make-Up Monday! By now we all know I love my monthly subscription to Ipsy. However, my husband has introduced me to a new one. This week I'm reviewing the Julep Maven monthly subscription. I’ve heard of Julep before but
never really inquired as to what it was all about. Hubby got my first box for
me. The process is very similar to other subscriptions. I took a style quiz and
my results were as follows….
It Girl
You’re a colorful trendsetter who’s
not afraid to be bold. Get three limited-edition nail
colors in every box.
Wow, I thought. That does sound like me. Next, I was shown
what would be sent to me in the It Girl
starter box. Now here is where this particular subscription service is
different than what I’m used to. I could chose what’s behind door number one or
go with another box from a different style profile. The profiles are
Boho Glam, Modern Beauty, Classic with a Twist or Bombshell. I decided to stick
with It Girl.
So what I’m promised is…
Three of the following nail polish colors:
Bette: Electric neon purple crème
Mila: Charcoal, multi-colored glitter
Isla: Soft milky-white metallic (Here is where I’ll point out that
this color is actually under the Boho Glam style profile.)

Now enough about the service lets talk about the product
itself.
I was most excited to receive Bette. I’ll admit I was not
impressed...at first. The application was not the greatest. The color was runny and it took 4
coats for it to even begin to give me a good color pay off. Which of course means it took for ever to try even using a quick dry top coat. Bette is the only one that did this. Not wanting to give up on it, I tried again and the second time around was much better. I still needed the four coats but this time I wiped the brush off almost completely before each application.
I will say it was kind of time consuming but looked much better.
I don't know yet if I will become a Julep Maven in the future but for right now...I'll have to pass.

If anyone thinks I
should give Julep a second try let me know in the comments below. Also, if you
take the style quiz let me know your results!!
Your “IT GIRL”,
J.
