10 Ways to Add Coconut Oil to Your Beauty Regimen

I love sharing beauty secrets with all of you. This one happens to be not so secret anymore but I still thought I'd make a list of 10 ways to add coconut oil to your beauty regimen. This is absolutely one of my favorite natural oils. Everything on this list is something that I do.

Make Up Remover – Need to remove your makeup quickly and effectively? Use a cotton ball with coconut oil to get it all off before using your face cleanser.

Oil Pulling – Ok it may sound weird/gross but swishing coconut oil around in your mouth every morning for 20 mins can freshen your breath, whiten teeth and detoxify your body.

Hair Oil – If you’re suffering from dry hair, which leads to breakage, coconut oil will become your best friend. It retains moisture in your hair making it soft and prevents breakage.

Body Oil – Instead of lotion grab your coconut oil after your shower to keep your skin soft.

Lip Balm – Instead of Chap Stick use coconut oil to soften your lips and keep them from getting dry and chapped. Want a tinted lip balm? Add a bit of eye shadow in your favorite color to the oil.

Body Scrub – Mix coconut oil with sugar for a fantastic exfoliator. I personally like to use brown sugar. It can be used for your whole body including your lips.

Shaving Cream – Shaving with coconut oil not only moisturizes your legs but it also helps you get a close clean shave every time.

Sun Burn – If you’re suffering from sunburn and need some relief gently apply coconut oil as needed.

Soften Cuticles – Rub coconut oil on your nails focusing on your cuticles for soft cuticles.

Makeup Brush Cleaner – A bit of coconut oil and anti-bacterial soap will have your brushes the cleanest they have ever been.

What is an important part of your beauty regimen? I'd love to know.

  1. I had no idea there was so many uses for it. But unfortunately we keep any coconut related product out of the house due to Bee's severe allergies to coconut.

    1. Oh no, that's too bad. I love coconut oil but not too fond of coconuts.

  2. Love this share. Have question though, can I buy the actual coconut and use on skin etc...like you would use Aloe Vera or must I use the oil?

    1. Thanks a really good question. I never thought about that but I know what you're talking about. I've used Aloe Vera plants for burns and things. I've just always purchased the Organic Coconut Oil from the store. I can tell its getting popular because the last few times I've gone the store has been out.

  3. Coconut oil has so many uses. I never thought about using it as a makeup remover or to clean my makeup brushes. Very clever. The one thing that I can't imagine doing is oil pulling. Swishing around coconut oil in my mouth for 20 minutes? I've read a lot about this, but I just can't imagine it. Have you tried oil pulling?

    1. I have tried oil pulling and I got my mom started on it too. Its not as bad as it seems. The coconut oil doesn't really have a taste. The main thing I noticed was whiter teeth. The hard part is the length of time. Every time I oil pull someone wants to talk to me so I have to do it before anyone wakes up.

  4. I tried oil pulling for a while. It was OK, but I didn't really notice any difference from it. I would do it in the shower while I was washing my hair and stuff. And it wasn't bad at all. I hadn't heard the lip balm thing. I may try that because I'm just not a Chapstick kind of girl. #SITSharefest
