Make Up by One Direction Review

Ok So I haven't been fan girl crazy over a boy band since the days of N'Sync but since I have daughters who are a part of the One Direction generation and make up is make up I decided to try out the new line from One Direction. Yes, they are in the cosmetics biz now. At first I was skeptical and figured it would be something my 16year old would use and then it showed up at my door.

There are three different limited edition collections for three very different looks. I received the Midnight Memories collection with everything needed to achieve a full on Rockstar Glam look.

The cute tin box (which I'll be using for as storage) came with 4 eyeshadows, 1 creme shadow, a chubby eye and body crayon that can be used as eyeliner, eyeshadow or for body art along with the stencils it came with. Also in the set was a mascara, lipstick, lipgloss and silver metallic nail polish.

The color pay off was pretty good. The swatches are without a primer. The eyeshadows are very pigmented and give a nice color payoff. I liked everything about the collection except for the Chubby eye and body crayon. It slides a lot and doesn't set easily. I used it in my waterline and had to go over it with a lot of black shadow for it to stay put. So if you plan on purchasing this I suggest you don't use it as eye liner.

Here is my complete look. I loved the red lipstick on its on but wanted to try out the lipgloss to see if it was stick and it's not at all. My whole look was done using everything from the collection except my blush and eyebrow makeup.

I made sure to get a close up of my lashes because lets face it no look is complete with out awesome lashes. For my every day looks I always use more 2 - 3 different mascaras to get the length and fullness I like but for this look it was achieved using only the Little Black Dress volumizing mascara.

I must say I really had fun trying out the Make Up by One Direction. I thought I would be giving it to my daughter but I'll wait until she's older before she starts busting out the red lipstick and smokey eyes. I took a look at the other two collections Take Me Home and Up All Night. I think each of them would be much more suitable for teenagers. These are definitely great gift items for Make Up lovers and obviously One Direction fans. All of the collections can be purchased at Macy's, Dillard's and select other participating retailers.
