The week leading up to my birthday was like no other. What I thought would be just a regular week turned out to be full of amazing opportunities and experiences. It all started with a friend request on FB and a message asking if I'd be interested in featuring my clothing line Lady Minor in a fashion show as part of an event benefiting children's autism called Cars and Couture. Even thou I only had one week to prepare I of course said "Yes"! This was going to be my first fashion show since moving to Tampa and changing my line's name from Legendary Style to Lady Minor. To say I was nervous would be an understatement. Just when I thought I got my nerves under control Monday night I got asked if I'd be available Wednesday to do a morning news segment on Fox 13 to help promote Saturday's event. Now I'm not one to turn down an opportunity like that so again I said "Yes"! My clothes have been on the news a few times before but someone other than myself always presented them with other lines and this would be my first time on TV. And just like that I became sick to my stomach!
Wednesday morning came and I took my daughter Sam with me to assist with models and what ever I might need. We all meet at Maz Exotic a place that rents exotic sports cars.
I had two models and they were SO sweet! I got interviewed as my models walked through the showroom among some of the most expensive cars in the world. I wish I could say I nailed my interview but my nerves got the best of me. Even thou I've had strangers come up to me to tell me I did a great job I wish I did better.
Friday the day before the big event and two days before my birthday one of my oldest friends flew in for the weekend from Phoenix and I couldn't be happier to see a familiar face. I mean let's face it Tampa is great and all but there's nothing like someone to remind you of home. Saturday morning and afternoon was spent getting clothes ready for the fashion show. We got to the venue right before sundown. It was held at a beautiful mansion in St. Petersburg with a stunning view!
Sports cars were parked on the massive lawn among tables of guest. Food and drinks were served while a jazz band sang until the show started.
As always backstage of a fashion show is a very chaotic experience but I get such a rush from it! The show turned out wonderfully and just as quick as it all started it was over.
I had a great time and the experience was one that won’t be forgotten any time soon. I am so grateful for the opportunity and was an amazing way to bring in my birthday. After leaving the event my friend and I went straight to the Hard Rock to have a very late dinner and drinks as we toasted to my birthday.
I seriously cannot wait to see what this next year has in store for me. I truly believe it will be nothing short of amazing.
